Once again, John Anthony Fingleton (written under “LostViking”) has succeeded in creating a beautifully written and evocative piece in “Beneath the Tree of Destiny” from “Poems from the Norse Lands.”
“Poems from the Norse Lands” is Fingleton’s personal reflection on the Viking Sagas and the full collection may be found compiled in his first solo book “Poems from the Shadowlands”- a split section book exploring both Celtic and Norse Mythology/Sagas, respectively.
“Beneath the Tree of Destiny” explores the time- honoured theme of fate and romance- liberally interwoven with Viking mythology references and written in a highly expressive and powerful manner.
Typical of Fingleton’s reflective style- “Beneath the Tree of Destiny” is rich in emotive language and takes you on a highly enjoyable journey through Norse sensibilities and cultural context.
As always, “Beneath the Tree of Destiny” was an absolute pleasure to read and I genuinely look forward to enjoying more of Fingleton’s work.
